Just a quick one because I'm sitting in a Starbucks (I know) using their free Wifi since the place I'm staying doesn't have internet (I KNOW! It's been one day and I'm still alive but it's close).
Out the window a man with stilts on is dressed up as a highwayman and advertising a World Famous Ghost Walk. There are two ghost walks in the city and I like to think that they glare at each other with venom every time they pass.
The Starbucks has been shoe-horned into a tiny building that looks Jacobean to me. There's a weency little fireplace in the corner with lovely old blue and white tiles and the walls have dark carved wainscoating. It's definitely the swishest Starbucks I've ever been in.
There's a Food and Drink festival going on so the streets are absolutely packed and it's nearly impossible to move down some of the narrower bits. Most of the food is meat pies or sausages but there's a fair amount of variety in the drink - and in the drinkers. The beer tent is mostly filled with men, almost all red-faced and wearing stripey jumpers that are generously stuffed with stomach. The wine tent has well coiffed couples, thirty-ish and slim. The champagne tent is almost all groups of students and the hostess looks harrassed and resigned.
